Before I was a designer, I was a DJ. I was spinning records in underground parties and nightclubs through the late '90's and early 2000's. I eventually landed myself a club residency and was responsible for booking DJs each week. Through that experience, I realized I needed promotional materials, so I started creating my own. It wasn't long before people were asking me to create flyers and posters for their parties.
Eventually I started taking pictures at those events as well, leveraging many of the run and gun
photojournalist technique and off-camera lighting tricks I was using at my newspaper day job.
